Excursions
Most of weekends we take our volunteers on excursions to local tourist sites and places of interest on saturdays or sundays .The cost of food and additional items for this excursions are not included. We also help volunteers organize thier own excursions out of Huancayo to the central Jungle (4 hours from Huancayo), to "Huaytapallana" snow mountain, to Huancavelica City, and other tourist sites around Huancayo or out of it. The central jungle: It is a must for you to experience the captivations of tropical places. This green province, Chanchamayo, in the Central Jungle is at 800 meters over the sea level at 173 kilometres from Huancayo. It is excellent to visit the warm places of the jungle, beautiful landscapes, great waterfalls where you can swim; the whole nature is amazing as well. The trip from Huancayo to the Central Jungle takes only 4 hours by bus service. You have also the opportunity to visit native communities and the botanical gardens. Let’s enjoy a few days of Sun, exotic meals, variety of fruits and the people's ![]() ![]() Huaytapallana: Located a 20 minutes car drive from Huancayo, situated at an altitude of 5200 m, this is a glacier surrounded by lakes. It is an essential source of drinking water for the Wanka people. The glacier can be seen from most of the Mantaro valley. If you want, you can bring your equipment to climb the glacier. ![]() ![]() Laguna de Ñahuimpuquio: This lake is situated in the North of the Chupaca province, in the Ahuac district, at an altitude of 3400m. Its water is cold and calm and of a bluish green color, due to the presence of seaweed. The vegetation most representative for the shores of the lake is the 'totora'; the exotic species of the lake is the trout. The lake's trout constitutes a major attraction for sport fishers. The lake is appropriate for camping.

Ingenio Santa Rosa de Ocopa: This is a historical museum where there are the most ancient books about the époque of the 'Virreynato', ancient animals and many aspects of the Huancayo culture and many more. |
